    Default My Rant

First off I would like to thank all of the loyal members on this forum, and the people who tell their friends about this site.

I would simply like to bring it to member’s attention that before they post in forums such as the help section and feedback section is to READ OR SEARCH BEFORE THEY POST!

The number of members who cannot read here is becoming too much to bear. Many of you have probably noticed that the moderators have lost their temper with many newbies. It takes all of one minute to read our rules on how to post.

It’s getting to the point where I almost avoid some sections of this forum, because I cannot deal with it anymore.

I don’t want to spend time trying to correct things like this, but it seems like I might have to. I tried banning members, but for every member that gets banned, 50+ show up and each of those members seem to bring their friends.

There are two things I am thinking of doing to help turn things around.
    • Create a team of members to ban people who don’t follow the rules in places like the help section.
    • English Test. Before you can register or download you have to pass a basic English test. Nothing hard, but I am sure many of our members will fail because they just don’t want to read.
Some of you may remember that one thread in the feedback section where I disabled account after account after account as members were all requesting manga. I eventually just gave up banning members.

I am not left with much choice. If you don’t want this to happen, we all need to do our part to make sure more people follow the rules.

Also I had to add another banner to the download pages. Our costs of running this site comes to around $380/m and this month we only made about ~$150 this month.

    Hi,

first, I'd like to thank you for having this forum and the manga scanlations.

And just some thought on the problem,
how about make the new members wait for about a week or two from their join date before they can post for the first time, because a lot of people who got temp ban, create new acct. just to post something while they kill some time. For temp ban only, just make it so they can still pm.

why don't put all the rules together, just a quick/short rules (all the rules from other section too, like requesting downloading, posting etc), when they are trying to confirm their acct. in the confirmation login page for them to read, because the first time I joined ST, it is hard for me to find the rules, the rules are all over the place.

    I like the first idea.

    Flash.

T______T i wrote a long message but then lost it -_- so ill just type faster! :P

ok first off Thank you for all your hard work in makeing this site i knwo it cost alot and it was a lot of hard work to get it to where it is today so thank you (all?)

    Next onto the ideas

Putting the rules together like Flash said was a good idea but the problume is well alot of the times members just click here check there and go posting they don't read the TOS or Rules ....

But putting the rules together is a good idea..

next how about makeing all the sections other then Series chat and Gameing and entertainment for members of 50-100 post + ? that way newbies cant go into thoses sections and just spam... and if there still spaming after 50-100 then you ban them but it should be a little (if not alot) easier to deal with 4 spamers a day then 50 a day.... (im just makeing up #'rs as a go along)

And if both of those ideas work make you Stop Tazmo justice leage of freinds to go after them! *lol sorry just looking at Flashes sig made me wanna go whatch JLU >_<*

    Anyways thats just my thought

How about an English test where the questions test comprehension of the rules?

Have the rules right there, and make the questions just difficult enough that you have to read the rules to get the answers right. I say don't make it too difficult, since not everyone's first language is English, but do make it hard enough that people can't just breeze through it.

I think needing a minimum number of posts could potentially lead to an increase in spam, and no one really wants that...

I don't really post a lot but I've been around for quite a while, here and on several other sites and I've seen enough to see the exam as a silly idea, since many spammers speak english so It wouldn't be an efficient way to stop them and instead, It would be a little rude for people whose first language isn't english. But I like Kevin's first idea. There are members who spend enough time here to be able to be part of a moderators team and ban whoever fails to follow the rules. And I also like the idea of putting all the rules together in the main page, warning everyone to read them before posting for the first time.

I like this idea, make it random multiple choices,
just like before you tried to play larry (PC), you were asked a few mutiple choice questions.
this is just to make them read the rules. mwahahahahahah.

Kevin, you may not know me but i think the number ONE problem with this site is a severe lack of moderators. if every forum here had at least three moderators i doubt half the problems woud occur. Specialists like HellCreator and CoolPupRocks in help arent enough and in places like Feedback where rulebreaking "idiots" seem to congregate in the largest masses are only modded by you and Jyuu who tends to act behind the shadows if ever... unless of course a ban is imposed. ColdNite seems to be nonexistent as of late, moderators like Kazechrno and Volvogga arent very active and people dont know of the skills and expertise they posses in the areas they moderate. based on the forums i frequent CoolPupRocks is the only active moderator whos here every day doing something about her exponetially growing forum. there are i believe EIGHT moderator for a site of 150,000+, scratching the leechers there are over 45,000 active forum members and even if all eight had each and every forum theres over 5000 members each for them to govern which is insane. not to mention all of them probably have real life problems to deal with that would impede into their activity and work on the site.

to solve the problem of idiots running rampant in all sections of the site as well as trolling non english speakers screwing up peoples eyeballs with their atrocious gibberish could be solved with more moderators. who could split the task up. instead of having one person (that being you Kevin) or two (+Jyuu) banning idiots find people who are knowledgeable in sections to co mod, elect them from the users in polls and give the people added protection. its democratic and fair to everyone if not taken out of context and if it fails you can always de-mod the people who arent doing their jobs.

the status of members in the eyes of others is a problem as well, since most of the mods here have been here since the beginning of the sites creation and with CoolPupRocks Volvogga and HellCreator all being established members since before their joining (i think) it sets a mode that its impossible to rise up in this site based on your join date. im not saying credit isnt given to people who post intelligently but it (the current "system") does seem a broken in my opinion and is a major contribution to the negative stress level that is radiated by you (Kevin and Jyuu). honestly... i think a change is way WAY overdue. ive heard rumors of how moderators are elected but i think we both realize its time to take it out of the office (the Stoptazmo Administration) and to the streets (the StopTazmo Forum Population) as a proverbial "experiment" to rid this God blessed forum from parasites and morons.

... i guess ill add to this later as my rant to answer your rant... laterz

In another website they give a week to do at least 5 post or you get auto-ban, but not a tempban, ban for life. I think that could be a good idea since many user only create an account to download.
don't do it if you don't want to but if you can get someone to check that could save time on banning people, but the problem is that someone has to check that they don't spam

I have never before seen such gibberish presented in such a weak attempt at "Help" in all my days at ST. You start with basic common sense and a good idea - that we need more mods - obviously since we have new sections, THEN turn idiotic, EIGHT mods a section? Elected by the MEMBERS? Ahaahahhahahahahaha. Good lord...

I like the english test idea myself.
