Is anyone watching Space Dandy right now? I'm following one of the lead animators on tumblr and I really love his stuff but I watched the first ep and i found it boooring as hell. Does it get better?
so many series to follow
and also Dark Souls II is coming out at March/April
and no time to do my game dev stuff
So much forum activity and I missed it... *feels left out*... I remember the good old days when the forum will filled with activity to the brim *reminisces*
With JoJo, I enjoyed it for what it was. My brain turns off, or I have a different mind set when watching shounen, I am looking forward to the second season.
As for animation for anime in general, I feel like I'm in the minority, I always hear people pick apart a good to decent show because of animation/art and use it as a reason to drop it. I generally don't really care that much about animation despite liking anime and anime being the short form of animation lol. For me the animation/art is a means to an end, so long as it can tell a story and flesh out the character's adequately or at a satisfactory level, I'm good (a, if it ain't broke, don't fix it mentality). The only show I ever remember dropping because of animation is Perfect Girl Evolution, that show physically hurt my eyes. Probably sounded like a hypocrite there but if I were to explain it with statistics. Think of a normal distribution curve. I'm probably fine with 95% of anime art, 2.5% I consider amazing (eg - The rain from Garden of Words) and 2.5% I consider unwatchable. I dunno... maybe I just have a high tolerance level, my friends thought the eyes were to big in clannad/kanon and Madoka's faces were too square in Magical Girl Madoka. Or I've been spoiled by Shaft, their second season of Sayonara Zetsubou sensei where it felt like they used everything but the kitchen sink just a whole lot of random crap in that show and I still loved it and then there's the Tatami Galaxy where I was pretty sure 95% of the show was in black and white lol.
Kill la Kill I have pretty low expectations, it's being directed by the same guy who did Tengen Toppa and Panty & Stocking right? (correct me if I'm wrong). Tengen Toppa I Thought was over hyped, so over hyped that I waited 2 years before watching it and still felt it was over hyped. I thought it was a decent show but not as great as what everyone else believed it to be. The manliness in the show felt superficial and generic to me. Maybe I kept comparing it to other moments in other anime that felt relatably more manly or maybe I'm just JADED in that department lol. Panty and Stocking was a miss to me not because it was bad but because I didn't like the style of comedy in it, it obviously wasn't meant for me. It wasn't that bad though, a comedy that isn't funny is just feel meh... I'm gonna watch Kill la Kill when the season ends mostly because it's one of the most talked about shows recently, hopefully I'll be unexpectedly surprise (in a good way).
Other shows I'll marathon once they're done are, Nisekoi, Golden time, Log Horizon, Noragami and Kuroko's basketball season 2. I'm more of a marathon guy when it comes to new shows, I'll generally only follow shows week by week if they're sequels.
