Thread: looking for anime i watched as a kid...

hey so as a kid i saw this pretty awesome mech anime that i really want to watch again...only problem is that i remember vague images/ random details. any help would be appreciated!

things i remember:

hero lands on planet, discovered by a man and a woman on some sort of station on a planet.

hero has a star shaped emblem thingy, used with the mech.

girls name is possibly star?

during the series, there is a sort of secondary mech upgrade.

somehow, hero is forced to kill alot of people including star ( i think he was mind controlled.)

enemy/ rival shatters his mech/ star thingy.

the fragments cant be reassembled, eventually reintegrated into mech.


other male protagonist is pissed at hero.

they discover him walking out of a sort crater.


i know this is a pretty tough and vague description but all i kknow is that it aired during the 90s, most likely before 98.
