Simple question, who here buys anime?

What sort of anime do you buy? Do you buy manga or other related things? What sort of prices do you pay? What sort of prices would you like to pay?

I DO buy anime on DVD, I will also on rare occasion buy manga and I have on occasion bought a small statue, toy or gunpla. I usually preffer to buy box sets where possible as they are much better value for money (especially when a single DVD even for an old series can cost £20/$25, but a box set of 5-7 discs costs about £30 sometimes less).

These days I only buy DVDs of series I really like after having downloaded and watched them, but I usually consider those series so good that I am even willing to import them from the US if they are not available in the UK. I'm quite proud that my collection contains Haibane Renmei, both box sets of Victorian Romance Emma, all four box sets of Aria, and I also have the Yukikaze, Planetes and Mushishi box sets on order from the US.
I've also recently purchased Area 88 and both sets of Eureka Seven in the UK.

I only usually buy complete series and it cost me $100 for just one set - I bought my Magic Knight Ray Earth anime for that much of money. Back in school, I have to constraint myself from buying anything else just to buy a set of anime.

I used to buy manga but because the publication is always late and there are some sort of restriction of media within the country, I only buy certain complete manga now. Online reading is my other alternative.

Never buy myself any figure due to money and space constraint.

My anime DVD collection isn't that big but I do intend to expand on it. I used to get my DVDs from a company in Canada (that shipped to the EU before shipping to the UK to bypass customs) but since I won't have anything to do with banks these days spending money over the internet can be tricky.

I'm currently trying to replace my old Laserdiscs and VHS with DVDs where possible. Anime used to be damn expensive before DVDs came out so I'm not complaining.

Does it usually cost $100 to buy a box set?!

I buy some anime, but it's not like I watch a lot of it -- usually a complete series that I've previously rented and I know I'll want to rewatch it. The last anime I bought was, um, if you don't count Ponyo, that would be Aria the Origination.

Manga, on the other hand, I buy a lot of. If it's something I like enough to finish reading (which odds are means I'll want to reread) I try to get it in print -- tho' admittedly half the time I collect things used or from the library. Being in the publishing industry myself, I'm a bit twitchy about not supporting authors, and if I don't want to buy a licensed copy, that's my sign to delete it from my hard-drive.

I like owning physical copies, since I'm more of a collector but I don't have the money to splurge on that stuff often so I buy when it's dirt cheap (usually around $5-$20) or I just have to have it because I love it. I tend to like buying movies more than series, but they're sorta expensive.

To this date I've only bought two sort of anime related figures, a Chun Li and a Cammy figurine. Less than 20 for both, though oddly enough I haven't taken them out of the box.

I have a pathetic collection of manga. Like one or two books and I forgot what they were. I'd really like to buy them but I can't get a deal that would really cut the cost like I would with DVD sets and on top of that I hate the butchered publications which just makes me steer away from it. Then buying the Japanese version doesn't make it any better because I can't read it. I'm sort of at a loss there.

It was when DVD still in its infancy stage. I just have to buy the DVD when the anime keeps haunting me when I chance seeing it once in tv.

wtf why is 5cm that much?

I buy stuff i really like. i bought afro samurai and 5 cm/s on dvd. i buy a lot more manga, shaman king, gunslinger girl, one piece and saint seiya. probably gonna get what a wonderful world and solanin to support inio asano. and then twin spica is being translated =3 i haven't bought anything for a while tho.

I do buy animes and mangas but I mostly buy mangas. I have a discount card for the Kinokuniya books store so I always get a 10% discount on all of them. I'm not gonna list them anymore cause I shipped a lot of them overseas to my parents place so I lost track of what I own. They were pretty expensive 10 years ago (more or less A$15) but when I started buying it at Kino I've saved a lot. They're prices are around A$11~A$13 minus 10%.

As for Anime, I rarely buy them cause its usually my brothers who buy them. If I do feel like buying one. I always check the internet if its dubbed nicely and checks the stores if they have started selling the box sets as they're a lot cheaper compared to buying them separately (A$50 for a 13 episode box).

For anime figures and other stuffs. I rarely buy them as well and its mostly those Petit Chara for my PC table. ^^

^Unless you bought them as single DVD's for $15 each, and not DVD sets that's actually not too bad.

I think 5cm was a short print. I'm not sure but it was gone within a week of it's release in my area everywhere. If you ever see a copy that's cheap around your area lemme know. I'd send you the moneyz just to get it and send it to me.

I forgot about Shaman King. I actually even liked the dubs.
