the first episode has been released by Shinsen-Subs.

I actually never thought there would be a second season. especially since the anime and the manga separated quite a while ago and the anime ended allready.

i'm still not sure what i've seen right now. the story seems to be taking place at the moments Al and Edward were state alchemists and tells the story of their everyday missions.

so its not really a second season.

Yea, this is an entirely new series. Something I've been looking quite forward to.

The OP was one of the greatest I've seen, but the ending was even better. Simplistic yet well done.

Now, about the episode. I must say it was worth the wait. The artwork is true to manga, and those thought bubbles were an added bonus. Even though it can basically be called a filler episode, it did a great job of introducing most of the main cast of the series. I look forward to seeing how well this show develops. Hopefully, it's stays true the manga, and just as great as the former series.

And when the stone disappeared, that was Father closing his eyes right?

I've got a question...

There has been a recent trend in anime in japan where old series are given new episodes/seasons/movies...

The ones I noticed so far are Slayers, Hajime no Ippo, Full Metal Alchemist, and Eureka Seven (movie).

Sooo... are there others?

^Really? I'd expect someone like you to be up-to-date on such things, flash. There was a thread on this a while ago. Most folk speculated it was a sequel, but I knew from the start it had to be a remake based on the manga plot.

I watched the first episode. Ed's voice actor is the same guy who voices Naruto in Shippuuden. That's fine by me, but I don't like the fact that the new art style is simpler and more kiddified(to put it bluntly) than the original anime. Also they seem to have downed the blood and gore content.

Just watched it, I really like the new opening. Season 1 had more of a darker feel to it but this is still just the first episode but it was really great seeing it, looking forword to the future episodes.

Season 1 also wasn't dark at the beginning, it was gradually becoming more mature and serious.
But the problem is, that the manga isn't like that. After all this time it's still very shounen-like.

I think they've just made it more similiar to the original mangaka's art style and I also don't really like it.
dunno. it was a non canon episode, so you don't really have anything to compare it to. We'll see when they'll show some gory scenes from the original.
