Default How is there not an Air Gear video game out yet?

I'm new to this manga (just bought the 2nd volume... yes I actually buy manga...) and even though I'm only two in its probably one of the best game suited anime around. I'm usually not a fan of anime based games mainly because I know (as most of you do too) that they're usually crappy and rushed just to make a quick buck/euro/paso/yen/etc. But this series just seems like if they made it into a game it would work perfectly. I see it this way:

    1. It would be one of the few anime based games not based on fighting.

    2. Its got an impressive enough story and system that if carried into the game would keep it interesting when playing alone yet add in online and good customization and Its already looking great.

    3. with modern gaming I think its possible so I'm going to throw it out there. add the ability to travel anywhere in the city/cities and the ability to choose any path to the goal in a game of this type would be impressive. also make it realistic. where as most sports games similar rearrange settings to make them more useful leave it as an actual place would look.

I'm sorry. I'm sure this has come up, I'm just amazed there hasn't been one yet.

Bah, I really don't know how to answer this without giving too much details...

But yeah, the story in Air Gear gets a BIT more complicated... if it does become a game, I cannot imagine it being anything that doesn't involve fighting (except maybe Class F competitions)

    Good Times

You'll just have to be satisfied with Jet Set Radio. Someone find that old game thread we had in here (sorry, I don't have the time to find it myself).

EDIT: Don't necro it though, just post the link.

Well it still wouldn't be a normal fighting game right? I can't imagine a normal brawler with the Air Treks. but like I said I don't know much yet.

btw, I love Jet Set radio. I actually still have my dreamcast with that and powerstone as my only remaining games.

It definitely could be done, it just couldn't be done with a cookie cutter fighting game like most animes.

if they did ever make it into a game tho itd HAVE to be on the wii and PS3 due to the type of stuff that goes on in the anime/manga imo which causes some probs in itself alrdy

also while yes it would be a cool game it gets to become a lil more dramatic n what not so itd be hard to make a game out of it especially w/o ruining it i agree itd be an awesome game though but the downside to it is one of the roads will obviously be imbalanced and make peeps vsin eachother kind of... well bs cuz itd be that road vs that road personally ill take bloody road no matter what tho ^^

plus personally im happy air gear is one of the anime/mangas that doesnt have a game out for it yet gives you a feel that OG! isnt going to go for a quick buck as much w/ his story which in a strange way gives some peeps a better feel for the author/artist not saying i wouldnt buy the game tho lol

    Katana - Agreed.

I'm with the OPs in both threads; Air Gear would make an amazing game if done well. But to live up to the series, it'd have to combine elements from all types of games. Here's my take:

The core of the game would be the Story/Adventure mode. In it, you play as Ikki in a free roaming environment, where you and Kogarasumaru would focus on gaining territory, stats, and influence in preparation for the Trophaem tourney. Here, you'd participate in Emblem battles, straight fights, or other contests, assimilating the other teams into Kogarasumaru or just crushing them and taking their assets. You'd also be able to attain riders, money, experience and items through side-quests, odd jobs, and even playing as a free agent in the NFA.

Beyond that, I'd have other modes that entail straight fighting (Arcade, VS, Survival, etc.), a Skate-style mode, and an online mode where you can either participate in Emblem battles or straight fighting tournaments. The best players on the Network using the main 8 Roads would become "Kings", players could form teams and attain official Class ranks online, and there'd be periodic Trophaem tournaments to determine who's the best team in the World. THAT would be awesome.

Of course, that's a lot to ask for, especially in the notoriously undercut realm of anime/manga adaptations. But one can dream, right?

EDIT: Also, it'd be great if they had Side Stories, where you get to play as members of Genesis, Sleeping Forest and Behemoth. That would seal the deal for me.
