Katana - Agreed.
I'm with the OPs in both threads; Air Gear would make an amazing game if done well. But to live up to the series, it'd have to combine elements from all types of games. Here's my take:
The core of the game would be the Story/Adventure mode. In it, you play as Ikki in a free roaming environment, where you and Kogarasumaru would focus on gaining territory, stats, and influence in preparation for the Trophaem tourney. Here, you'd participate in Emblem battles, straight fights, or other contests, assimilating the other teams into Kogarasumaru or just crushing them and taking their assets. You'd also be able to attain riders, money, experience and items through side-quests, odd jobs, and even playing as a free agent in the NFA.
Beyond that, I'd have other modes that entail straight fighting (Arcade, VS, Survival, etc.), a Skate-style mode, and an online mode where you can either participate in Emblem battles or straight fighting tournaments. The best players on the Network using the main 8 Roads would become "Kings", players could form teams and attain official Class ranks online, and there'd be periodic Trophaem tournaments to determine who's the best team in the World. THAT would be awesome.
Of course, that's a lot to ask for, especially in the notoriously undercut realm of anime/manga adaptations. But one can dream, right?
EDIT: Also, it'd be great if they had Side Stories, where you get to play as members of Genesis, Sleeping Forest and Behemoth. That would seal the deal for me.
