I agree it has far too much fan service and can do w/o so damn much... It doesn't really add anything to the storyline and like what was said before massively degrades the women bein able to fight on same lvl n higher than the men because all the fanservice it gives, yes a lil fanservice is always nice but an overpowering fanservice like it is now isn't needed
the story's great and its one of my fav mangas but just flat out too much service theres porn and theres reading n watching this goes for readin n watchin peeps who want that much fanservice should just go n get some porn imo
Wow! I'm astonished. Porn is porn and henti is henti, but open life with a little bit of what usually is reserved for privacy it hot and spicy . . . like a mouthful of jalapeño peppers. If anything, we need more fan service, more romance, more love in our everyday lives and less violence, war, and oppression. I feel sorry for all your future wives who'll think you men are lame, conservative ducks, who would much rather work than play with or look at them: [Cue the Asian music]: "I work and study a lot becuase I'm no fun."
And women competing at the same level as men? Of course that happens! What's so surprising about that; I'm suprised when they don't. There's no reason they can't look hot and sexy (assuming they are) while competing . . . just like I look hot and macho--Fabio like even--when I'm competing (in my head). And as for women being treated as sex objects: well duh. Women are sex objects, men are sex objects; it's just that more horny, lonely, nerdy men read manga and view anime, that more women are shown as the objects. Face it: sex and romance sells. Hell, even women know this. Trust me, that's one reason why they do what they do for whatever other reasons they do it, that I still have no idea why they do it. It only ruins the story if you're a prude or gay (too much of the wrong gender for your taste). Go back to the 50's.
Just joking people ;) don't get mad. Lighten up; this is suppose to be a fun manga. In a really serious work: like one that looks at the Post-Economic Downfall of Newly Liberated Japan From the Metaphysical Standpoint of Colonial America, you'll be craving for panty shots!
Me, myself, I love the fan service in Air Gear, I really do. Actually, the only time in Air Gear where I didnt like the fan service was when the crow removed Rikka's bottom towel and she later on cried, which made me feel sorry for her.:smt022
Other than that, I love the fan service.
I don't mind with the fanservice if it's make it's interesting(like for some comedy)
But yeah there are some part where we don't need fanservice but the author put it too like during the fight between Ringo and Ikki, we could see her nipple clearly during the battle, and than in the middle of battle we see a really big picture that took 2 page of her naked not wearing anything but the AT
It's Oh! Great people that's how he does it, and really Air Gear doesn't have much when compaired to some of his other works
I think it's just fine the way it is. Everything doesnt revolve around the fanservice, so why obsess over it? I'd be more disappointed if there was a manga about a bunch of girls skating and flipping all over the place and NOT see a panty shot.
It all comes down to personal preference, really. The fanservice can get heavy at times, but honestly it's never bothered me at all.
I do want to bring up a point, though. I assume based on your writing style that you're a bit older (i.e. not 12-14 years old). Let's face it, as complex as we see the various story and character elements to be, the manga is still targeted at the age group where fanservice is a major draw. While you may have other sources for your sexual enjoyment, these kids are presumably still in "OMFG AWESOME" mode whenever they see anything revealing.
Im a definite fan, in all honesty the ecchi aspect of it helps make Oh Great's work what it is. In all honesty it really wouldnt be the same without it. Its like Tenjou Tenge or Mahou Sensei Negima without the ecchi shots. Whether it would be better or worse is up for discussion, but it wouldnt be the same.
