Thread: Creating an air trek.. need your opinions

Hi. I'm fairly new to the Air Gear series, but I really like it. Me and a few friends are thinking of making the air treks (not with motors, just stylistically similar to an AT), but I'm having a few troubles in deciding between a few skates...

The main reason for this choice is that the 2nd and 4th wheels are in the perfect spot to resemble an AT. If the other wheels are taken out and the chassis shaved down a bit, the shape would be perfect. My main concern would be how taking out 3 wheels would affect balance and the support of the skate.

This skate has a nice color scheme that I really like, and the tennis shoe-like design is more stylistic. However, there's that huge,black, swirly black piece of plastic on the side (which probably can't be removed since it is what supports the ankle), and the wheel frame will need to be heavily re-adjusted/remade to be accurate.

If you could respond a bit quickly, I would very much appreciate it. The first skate is normally several hundred dollars, but there is an ebay deal (less than a day remaining) where it can be bought for less than $30 USD.

Isn't there already inline skates out there with only two wheels?

Also to be more helpful, you can buy skate parts and switch them. Like you can buy the bottom part (forgot what its called) that resembles AT's and have only two wheels to whatever boots you prefer.

Oh god, not another one of these threads.
Listen up, with current battery and motor technology, you will not get enough power and torque, for long enough for this to work. Certainly not in something small enought to fit in or on an inline skate.

EDIT: Sorry, didn't see this:

If you wanted to create something that looked like an AT, you would probably have to create a new bracket and new wheels (AT wheels are big). Good luck to you though, just don't ask about the motors.

lol forget the motors... u forgot totally abt the suspension system which could handle a fall from dun know how many floors...

heat distrubtion of the motor even if you find one that wont burn out if you put your fun weight on it that is also small enough for it to fit, if everyones gonna start having some major atheles foot

Did you switch the pictures because if you take out wheels except 2nd and 4th for the first choice it will definitely not look like an AT...

but for choice 2, it might work because first, it would look like an AT, second, the wheels(if you take out 1st, 3rd, and 5th) would be situated exactly or almost like AT wheels...(hey, maybe you can design the wheels to look like a regalia >.<)...

but there might be an issue with the balance...

Heh... I have a pair of speed skates... with 100mm wheels... and hey... there are three wheeled ATs... why can't there be four? (Not in a regular skate, but an inline skate form...) the speed basically matches (I can reach up to 40mph down hill...) and the wheels are enormous...

Just buy a pair of skates like that... plus they look like a shoe! They're really hot. :]

^^ I could do a four wheel AT, but that would really make it no different than any other person on roller blades.
