All I say is: Patient is a virtue. I know people can get impatient when scans aren't done fast that they start to do this, but come on, they should help out the current scanlators.
Thank God I have other mangas to read because a few months ago I would have cut my wrists (kidding) when the scanlations were 40 chapters behind the raws....
Apparently they either didnt know Kuu existed or if they were still active. I smell bullshit. Although a merger would be nice. Kuu could use the translators and Sora could use the quality of typesetters Kuu has - cuz damn... this release, the spelling and grammar is pathetic.

Discussion is probably gonna be postponed until more people read the chapter, aka when it's released by Kuu. I went ahead and read, so here are my thoughts (on the quality, not what happened in the chapter):
Quality is obviously lower. The very general idea is there, but I get the feeling anyone who follows their subs will miss out on a good bit of story information, given that the Air Gear characters just love to go on pagelong rants chock full of ideas and plot advancements and I don't get the feeling the translators can handle bringing all that stuff over unblemished. Oh, and no joke pages. That's just...wrong >_<
That said, they have speed on their side (Then again, so do many new scan groups until they realize just what they're getting themselves into). I'll admit that while I value all the time and effort put in by sub groups and scanlators, my loyalty still has its limits when it comes to this kind of stuff. One or two chapters is no big deal, but if they manage to get a significant distance ahead I doubt I'll be able to help myself, even if it means taking a quality dig.
The situation's still up in the air though, it seems. I went to the Sora Scans site to get the chapter, and in addition to linking to Kuu as an "Affiliate," their front page claims "To those who know, we are sorting out the dilemma with Kuu Scans." So we'll just have to see.
I don't think we're affiliated with them... we're just letting them be... they DID after all jump the gun on us XD
As a proofer who spends time and effort on making scripts legible at a decent pace... i really didn't like their releases (stopped reading halfway b/c of Engrish and weird sounding things :\)... however, the cleaning was pretty good :P
If they can get more people and keep alive then good for them, we're going to keep doing our own stuff at our own pace, as many of us still have lives :P
is it just me or the quality of the scans is better at the sora group (I'm not talking about translation just that sora are having a very good raw to work with)

Looking at the difference in the quality of the pages art compared to the quality of the translation (pretty damn bad) made me think "How do the raws look? Since the translation was rushed it seems like the cleaning should have been rushed too, but it's not bad at all". However I don't want to make excuse to break the temptation of reading a raw so I'll just ask you guy :>
Also in this chapter the guy with the Cross-eyes next to Ringo was Killik, who seems really skinny so if he didn't steal Bagram then there must be a 3rd person in the Simca/Kilik relationship. Aaaaarg cliffhanger :confused: :confused:

Just read one of the earlier raws.
I don't know what the big deal is; Sora scans seems, overall, only of a slightly less quality than that of Kuu scans. And since I don't pay for either (only occasionally donate to certain groups), I'll take speed over a little knock in quality. If Sora scans keep up the speed, catching up to the raws, then Kuu scans is sunk on Airgear. Face it, the story is starting to get too interesting to wait patiently; with this release Sora scans is testing the waters, by next release, if they are quicker than Kuu, they'll have us talking about the chapters. God speed Sora scans!
