I'd say that AG is becoming like that too. With all the battles beyond human capabilities, the vehicles and machinery are plenty in Air Gear...they're riding hi-tech inline skates...although it isn't that realistic, Air Gear's art is pretty detailed and angles are interesting as well.

Not that I'm saying AG's art is better than TT's...I did choose "can't decide" for the poll.

Yeah but we're talking about art here. When do you think someone is better at drawing, when they've just started out or after they've been practising for years? Like Vphamv said, oh great started TenTen 4 something years before airgear and it shows like a bitch for at least the first 3 volumes.

Currently they are both being drawn by the same person in the same style at the same level of skill, so apart from one having weapons they are virtually indistinguishable. However TenTen did undeniably start off with shakey artwork. So since they both look the same now but one looked worse before, surely the only thing to conclude is that overall the artwork in TenTen is slightly worse than in airgear?

^ I agree with you. He really needs to work on his page layout, the dialogue pages have far too much crammed into them and the action pages usually don't have enough. Even if the level of detail is impressive to say the least.

Tenjou Tenge was created almost 5 years before AG. If you look at TT alone, you'll notice that the artwork evolves drastically from the semi-crappy quality at the start of the manga to the goodness it is now. AG has been consistently good quality, but there aren't as many beautiful shots in AG as TT (for me at least).
In the file where I keep manga pages that I want to convert to sigs, i have over 20 pages from TT and about 5 from AG.

I haven't seen anyone surpass his scenery and machinery detail, he has an amazing eye for architecture as he designs a lot of the buildings/locals from references and scratch it seems, I would go as far as to say his eye for mechanical design is unsurpassed in the comic industry... prove me and the above poster wrong, show someone better, I seriously doubt you can.

His character design is good and unique to him but not the best, his capture of motion/action, unsurpassed.

He just kinda sucks at drawing ears imo, I wanna sit him down and give him some pointers on the ears so badly.

I love his art and I feel I have to defend him!

    [edit]
Oh I can actually draw, so I'm not just talking out my browneye.

Miwa Shirow's Dogs. Hiroaki Samura's ..... well, y'know. Nihei Tsutomu's Blame! (among others).

OG; i give credit for his details, but i'm one of those people who sees the lack of a certain quality being beautiful...

Guys, as much as you hate Death Note, TAKESHI OBATA CAN draw, and he does it AMAZINGLY.

Maybe OH! Great's artwork have more appeal to you guys due to its young and energetic content but in terms of expressions, details, types of characters and sometimes even background & environment, Takeshi Obata is still MUCH better than OH! Great. I have Obata's artbook for both Death Note and Hikaru No Go and I was truly gobsmacked by that guy's skill. Get it if you don't believe me. Read his latest manga Blue Dragon if you still not convinced yet.

All in all, I'm not saying OH! Great's a bad artist or anything, BUT, as much as you guys disagree, he is definitely not the best.

Back to topic. After reading the last chapter of TT, I am 100% convinced that TT's art is (currently) better than Air Gear's.

i checked out the ones you suggested and your right they are nice but i still dont see them as being superior in art work to ag and/or tt, but i will concede that my conclusion might not be completly fair as i didnt start reading the series you suggested and instead just searched through images which probably means i didnt get the full picture. i perferd dogs over blame! but i think that was quite interesting as dogs in parts seems to have a similar look or feel to ag and tt (art wise i mean, i even thought one of the characters was shin for a second )

i could see why people would like blame but personally style wise its not really my thing (although the scenery is done really well), i usually perfer clean crisp art work over darker more 'gothic' ones, so thats probably why i perfer oh! great's style, there is also the fact that o/g draws in a similar way to me (although im no where near as good) so generally what he draws is how the pics look in my head, so there is probably some bias in my judgment anyway.

edit: i havent checked out any of Hiroaki Samura's stuff yet though
