My sad attempt at making ATs (ok, im not dumb enough to try it, but my friend...)

Ok, me and a friend of mine are rather obsessed with air gear. Well, this weekend, there was nothing to do, so we decided, "Why not, lets make some ATs".

Parts used:

- 1 Pair rollerblades
- 4 bottle rockets

Well, we put two on each skate.... needless to say, we flipped a coin to see who would "get" to try it. I won, so he got to try XD. Now, for the record, this was a stupid idea to begin with, we knew that, but what was ever stupider, was that we did this on a steep hill XD. So, he stood on top, and I lit the bottle rockets, and gave him a push. He started going crazy fast, and then the bottle rockets went off XDDDDDDDD. His legs flew out from under him, and he ended up on the side of the road, flailing around.

Needless to say, he's ok, or I wouldn't be posting this in a comical fashion. I thought it was funny, so im posting it here. Ill post some pics of the skates in a bit (theyre really ****ed up now)

That's sort of where AT's fail in reality... I talked to this with my professor in class. You can't have a super instantaneous acceleration because you're gonna flip backwards like your friend did with the rockets

Is it because the acceleration is at the feet, so that makes the body wanna lie out flat? And the rest of the body can't gain momentum that quickly?

Or something like that...

Thats supposedly why you have to lean forward to get ATs to go.

@OP: You should do what they did on Jackass, strap a belt sander to each foot.

It's a question of center of gravity. Thrust at the feet = FLIP

thrust at slight upper back? That works. You could also get AT like devices to work with a particular construction and posture required, but standing straight up with the engine in the wheels? hmmm... no.

well you could always do like Kazu does and just have your nose scraping the ground. But now that i come to think about it, AT users arent really goingthat fast... rarely at least, most of the time theyre in midair or in close quarters...
