Thread: What's the basis of air gear?

Ever since I first read air gear, I wanted to know what the original sport was from.

Do you think it's rollerblading? I know that Japan has one champion in the X-games.

It also bears a strong resemblance to what I see as "freestyle walking," going from A to B in the shortest period of time (jumping fences, running up walls, etc).

Actually yes its rollerblading ,if u go to the first volume it says that they took rollers the attached a smaaaaaallllll engine with enough power boost and the ecola!!!! AIR TRECK the tool of FReedom!

I think it's based on fanservice, mostly. And excellent character design.

Rollerblading/Roller derby is the primary basis, freerunning (which you mistakenly called "freestyle walking") would be a secondary one.

Personally I don't think they put much thought into freerunning. Basically its pure rollerblading in a way because everything becomes a skating/trick park. But anywho, whoes us to question Ito Ogure

but if it is like there on the moon how does he fly, when he was facing that dog team and he first saw the "road" it looked like he was flying
