What's the basis of air gear?
Ever since I first read air gear, I wanted to know what the original sport was from.
Do you think it's rollerblading? I know that Japan has one champion in the X-games.
It also bears a strong resemblance to what I see as "freestyle walking," going from A to B in the shortest period of time (jumping fences, running up walls, etc).
Actually yes its rollerblading ,if u go to the first volume it says that they took rollers the attached a smaaaaaallllll engine with enough power boost and the ecola!!!! AIR TRECK the tool of FReedom!
I think it's based on fanservice, mostly. And excellent character design.
Rollerblading/Roller derby is the primary basis, freerunning (which you mistakenly called "freestyle walking") would be a secondary one.
Uryuu freaky, pale and geeky,
how do your powers grow?
"With gloves and scars and silver stars
and swords that I shoot from a bow,
yes, swords that I shoot from a bow."
Personally I don't think they put much thought into freerunning. Basically its pure rollerblading in a way because everything becomes a skating/trick park. But anywho, whoes us to question Ito Ogure
Thanks for the correction on freerunning.
I think I may bug him.
When I was first intoduced to this my buddy just said "it's like Jet set radio"...
THe basis of airgear is defying gravity. Just imagine earth with the gravity of the moon, that's airgear
this feels like the truth

I love those breathtaking doublepages with nothing but a Stormrider and the vast sky on it. Thus I shall define the basis of Air Gear as "flying."
