Thread: Air Gear Episode 9 (spoilers inside)

I figured I'd start a thread for the latest subs for Air Gear. Is it just me or has the anime improved since the fist couple of episodes? I wasn't really all that impressed with the anime, but it's starting to lok pretty good. And how f*cking cool was Agito in the episode! They did an awesome job with the anmiation and the blood trail was a nice touch.

Well, for the colours: Ikki's hair is not blue. Ringo is not a redhead. Spit Fire is not a REDhead either. I can't comprehend why on earth they would change the official colour design. I don't care though, not like this wasn't obvious after what they did with Tenjou Tenge.
Next is the character design and I won't tell you much about it. Just take a look at the bath scene in Episode 5. I didn't know Son Goku was an AG character.

One thing though, really, none of you can complain about the so-called "cersorship". What did you expect? Were you really thinking they would be running around naked? On a TV show!? The crows are much more meant to be amusing than annoying. Also, if you compare the original to the anime - oh shock - you can't see any nipples or vaginas. This is a shounen ecchi manga, not a hentai. Get that into your heads.

On to the voices. Ikki sure has the voice of a thirteen year old, but neither the age nor the sound match his looks anywhere close. Ringo and the others sound fine, nothing special here.

Next major point: The story. You cannot mix randomly chosen parts of four volumes of a comic into ONE episode of an animation. You just can't.

There are only two good points about this anime:
1. Onigiri looks even more ugly than in the manga. That is good.
2. The music is awesome - breathtaking. (Well, breathtaking despite being an ecchi title.)

All in all, Air Gear was majestically ruined for the reasons I mentioned. It is not worth watching and certainly not the best thing around. Just put in two more bucks and the result would have been much more something like the real big shots of the season. The Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi would be an example animationwise, even though I am not a fan of that series. If you still look for a legitimate reason for watching it, do it for the music; it is well-composed and chosen, and just fits the theme perfectly.

i actually agree with miyagiCE. i think people will biasly admit that the anime is good just because the like the manga so much. animation sucks, storyline is random and wrong, and the drawings suck as well. the manga is great, the anime just sucks.

I didn't agree with you at first but after watching about 8 minutes of episode 10 I really noticed that the animation really does SUCK. I can't believe how bad this animation is really, the colors are that of a 70's or 80's cartoon. After watching older episodes of Bleach and Naruto when they aren't filler's this show looks like that of a 5 year old. Thank goodness I didn't just watch an episode of RahXephon or else I might loose my eyesight from watching these episodes. Could these be filler episodes is that the reason that they look so bad, if so that isn't saying much about the anime starting the series off with filler episodes. I really like the manga but I am no impressed and far from happy with the animation that I am currently getting from this series. I would more or less expect this level of animation from Beet The Vandel Buster, where it is going for that type of animation but not from a show like Airgear with such a promising storyline. Not really promising in the since that it is so complex but in the meaning that you just have to animate what has already been laid down ahead of you.

I hope this series will end at ep13 as rumour says.

I hope they do a 180 and get there act together, I like the idea of seeing the show animated, but don't ruin it in the process. Sometimes things get really hectic in Air Gear so it is kind of confusing at times to follow where characters are coming from what movie they just did and what they are about to do, which is why I liked the idea of it being annimated. Get some good animation under your belt and build upon that, don't start off serving crap.
