they were referring more to the fact that kei and masaro dissappeared, its not that they want to forget about it, they just dont really know what happened, and think its a trick that they played.

"well i know what i didn't see, i didnt see those two kids getting hit by the train".

this was said basically because the bodies disappeared and they think it was a trick, they're not trying to cover up what they saw.
